Has any one ever seen a parcel shelf or a "glove-box fitted "air conditioner unit as shown on the GMH Tailor Made Accessories brochure. I have seen many HQ's since they were first built and have never seen either of these Genuine GM accessories fitted to a HQ . I am keen on fitting intermittant wipers to my HQ Kingswood . Is there an after market switch that I could fit in an out of sight position ?

There was a genuine integrated air con available why would anyone fit an undershelf unit? Unless they were a bit cheaper.
There are a few intermittent wiper kits around try your local auto store.

I have one of these genuine under dash air conds (Cool Stream). I bought it because the standard air conds in HQ-WB are bloody huge ugly things and getting to the rear spark plugs of a V8 requires one to be double jointed!
The under dash units fit in pre

Agree with John, except delete the HJ reference, as they still had a dash mounted wiper mech and floor mounted high beam. In actual fact using the HJ one is probably easier as the wiper switch and delay knob are incorporated into the one unit, and you don

Hi Guys.

Byron is correct about the HJ intermittent wiper control. They are unique to HJ as they incorporate the complete wiper switch, the column stalk is not reqired. They look good if neatly fitted too, I saw one at a swap last year & the guy was tr

Does anyone have any extra information on the air conditioning systems that we are talking about here (Nasco/GM P&A unit). Where do they mount in the cab and what modifications do you have to do to fit them? Does the cold air still come out the dash vents

Many moons ago, I had an HQ 253 Trimatic wagon with the aircon in lieu of glovebox option, but no tray under the dash.

I think it was an aftermarket setup as there was no room under the centre of the dash for the aircon due to the console for the T-Ba

The under dash unit sits under the glove compartment, and is fully integrated...ie has its own vents so doesn't tap into the cars usual venting system.
The unit I have only requires 2 1" holes to be drilled in the firewall for the hoses.

I had a HQ belmont that was fitted with a parcel shelf but no air/con , I sold it off years back , If you had an accident with one of these it would break your shin bones!
I did however come accross an original HQ taxi with the removable metal dash panel

I have the genuine Acc air con that fits behind the glove box in my HZ Sandman. I installed it myself and basicly everything bolts stright in. The only thing that you have to do is locate and drill using a hole saw for the air con pipes and a hole in the

I would be inclined to fit it in the middle of the under dash, so it could spread the cold air better, it does have directional vents but would in my opinion work better in the centre, the guys that have the underdash/in glovebox ones could advise better

Alternative to the dwell controller, you can fit an HX/WB dwell unit to your existing HQ set up. It simply "taps" into the white wire going to the wiper motor.

Modify the knob/resistor and place in the rear speaker hole and no one will know the differe
