Building a 202 Black motor, there are many options for fuelling when it,s going into a 61 Holden. Starting with the most basic is
1)Triple carb's - Easy, Looks good @ $500 DIY but which ones - SU, Stromberg or Weber?,
2)Fuel Injection from a VK Commie - How much better than Carb,s ? Ugly lookin Plenim, can all them hoses an switches be dumped/blocked? Is the computer adaptable?, Cost for wiring and programming ? Who ?
3)Turbocharging (guesstimating $2,500), Is it worth the feeling, Are the 202,s up to it for a regular weekend cruiser? Carb or Inj ? Does anyone make manifolds ?
Any leads from this wealth of Fastlaners would be appreciated, I'll be taking my time with this one.

I would go with a red block, that way you don't have to use the performance/economy strangling pollution controls of the blue/black motor,186 are good, or 202 but they don't rev as well, use the blue or black crank, they run a lot smoother and spin bette

Thanks 4 feed JP,
You've confirmed what I thought may b tru (re Inj v's Carbs), as nostalgic as I am I will still regret the look of that spaghetti manifold crawling over the Rocker cover 2 inhibit the simplicity of the ol'61 basics. Dollar for dollar th

Castlemaine Rod Shop sell a supercharger kit for the red 6's. Holden sixes can be durable little beasts if not over-revved. They will handle forced induction, but be realistic with how much boost. If you do go the EFI route and use the red block like John

Byron,
Thanks for the tips, Pat Gardners web site is very informative re converting steering, brakes and diffs. I think I will still stay with the straight 6 though as it will definately be a cheaper option at this point. The Castlemaine site shows pics

You can look at Sammy's site (www.oldholdens.com then go to the Tech articles) as he has a good guide to putting VK injection into old Holdens.

Cheers...Dave

One thing to watch is the computer. I used a hole saw and cut a hole next to the steering column and ran the plug and cables through over to under the glove box and mounted it under there. The original has it on the side of the pillar sort of so it is at

you can get a "torker" or similar manifold, put a two barrel throttle body on it that runs injection(looks like a carby)
get a MSD or similar ignition system(one that runs from an ecu)
buy a second hand computer like a HALTEC (picke
