Well, I'm now the proud owner of a 10-84 built WB Deville. No motor, front seats, door mirrors, or headlights. ( I reckon they're gracing a ute somewhere)
My question is. Is a 350 Chev legal in a WB? Esp with a Holley. Reason for asking is that said 350 is available and ready to drop in. TH 400 & X member there as well.
Or I rat the WB for the HQ- can any one confirm if the WB half chassis will work with HQ sheet metal? And from memory, arn't the WB chassis side rails shorter than HQ? |

go with the HQ. all the missing bits are the costly to replace items due to their popularity with ute enthusiasts, particularly the headlights at approx 250-300 each. i would put the wb diff in the hq though. 4 wheel discs are not a bad thing. your premier isn't purple by any chance is it? i still have certain red wagon lying around that once had a 350 in it. sound like your old one?

With straight LPG you can put a Chev into a WB. Bit hard on ULP. Being a 10/84 it'll be a trimatic too, not a TH400.
WB rails are basically a bolt into a HQ. Only difference is the nose of the rails are removed to clear the radiator support, so the HQ front bar bolts (1 per side) cannot be fitted - you have to use just 2 per side. In most Australian States the reulting car will be a WB though and will have to comply with the same emissions laws as the Statesman. |

No, but it just the nose. You know how they are rounded on HQ-HZ? WB has the front about 30mm or so cut off, and the frontmost bar bolts are moved backwards by about the same amount. |

you may have a tougher time with a later series 2 Wb stato and Holley than a normal HQ - WB as there are more ADR requirements on 10/1984.
also, you stato probably had a trimatic and the crossmember is different (but can be nodified) to suit T400
most late WB ststos i have seen have XV-9 ?? on the ID tag. not sure if this relates to emmissions controls. but on the 6 cyl Late 1984 WB's they had extra emmission controls than the early 202 blue. |

Adam,
8WS19 = WB Deville 8WT19 - WB Caprice 8WS19-XV4 = WB Deville Series II 8WT19-XW9 - WB Caprice Series II
You're right the the 202, but I think it was just those that built for NSW, all other states didn't have the extra emmission controls.

Premier, I'm currently building up one WB ute out of two, it has a 350 and TH350 box in it (this is in NSW) i can get full rego on this car as it has a straight gas setup. I need to get it engineered to get registration. Of the bits you're missing i have a set of WB mirrors plus other stuff if you need em let me know.
