The time has come to sell my pride and joy. It is a 1977 Sandman I have owned it for 6 years I am the 3rd owner, the guy I brought it off owned it for over 20 years. I have lost count of the time and money I have spent on it. The Van has been in storage for the past 18 month and comes with 12 months Rego for the new owner.
I have done several trips in the Van down the south coast and it is a pleasure to drive it rides great on the Freeway and has no trouble in traffic plus it pretty good on gas.
It runs a straight gas fully rebuilt 350 Chev ( only done about 1500kms ) a T5 Gearbox & 9� diff . Everything was replaced with new name brand components, SCAT crank & pistons, Crane stage 2 gas cam , lifters ,push rods, Mellings oil pump, Rebuild Hi compression gas heads, Edelbrock Performer manifold, Ceramic coated extractors, Hi torque starter, new water pumps, new balancer, new alternator, new thermo fan, reco heavy duty radiator. The list goes on I can�t remember everything I replaced as there was so much of it.
Gearbox was rebuild and a new Comp clutch & cable fitted.
The 9� has had new wheel bearings and brakes fitted but internals have remained untouched ( except for a oil change)as I was planning on removing it and upgrading to 4-link rear end.
Front end has been fully rebuilt, all new ball joints, tie rod ends, bushes, brakes, disc rotors ( slotted), brake master cylinder, Brake calipers, wheel bearing, shocks ( premium gas ), springs ( Lovell),. Complete new 2.5� stainless dual exhaust & Ceramic coated extractors.
The Van was painted about 6 years ago not along after I brought. The colour is a custom mix of Mercury Silver. The paint is still in great condition, has a few marks here and there but has not been touched since it was first painted.
Body wise it has a one piece tailgate, shaved filler hole, shaved quarter blinkers, shave door locks, WB statesman caprice front, re-chromed front bar ( bolt holes filled) re-chromed number plate frame, new tail light lens.
Inside the front doors, rear quarters, front floor, inside roof and inside ute line, outside roof gutter and ute line ( before it was painted) have all been paint in POR15 ( advanced rust protection paint) most of the chassis and floor pan have also been painted in POR15.
Wheels are 16in B45 Simmons (like new) with 225x50x16 front and 295x50x16 rear , Tyres have done about 1500km,s.
Inside has been retrimmed, all door rubbers, window rubbers & pinch welding has been replaced, new carpet fitted, front and rear cab has have been fitted with sound deadening material , Sony explode head deck, speakers, sub woofer & amp.
Van is fitted with power windows and deadlock central remote locking.
Rear cab has been deck out with Flat panel TV, 1300wat sub and 2 channel amp. There is also a 2nd battery compartment inside one of the cabinets to run the accessories in the back and there is storage behind the lounge.
There is stuff I have forgotten to mention as I have done so much work to this Van in the last few years.
You would struggle to build a Van like this for Twice what I�m asking for it.
