Guys, I recently came across a set of wheels with what I am told is ford stud pattern as per the following two photos: The centre was manufactured as a separate piece and welded into a steel hoop. I am not a Ford person so would appreciate any info on what these might be off; whether they were ever factory fit or dealer fit option or just aftermarket; are they likely to be of any significant value? Thanks

Check out the link. They look a lot like the optional wheels you could get on the XY and XA GTs. If they are the same I've no idea if they are worth much but it's a start. http://media.photobucket...15thSeptember2010008.jpg

Thanks Paul.
I agree they are almost certainly the same. zooming in on your photo, you can clearly see the centre spokes are separate from the hoop.
I think I will advise the owner to put them on eBay and see how he goes.

No worries Des. tell your mate he might get more if he gives them a bit of a clean up. Happy Easter.

The wheels pictured in the link above where actually restored by myself for my ZF Fairlane...which I have since sold
The wheels you have are Option 52 wheels. Judging by the ROH markings you have a set of four small hub wheels. This means they will only fit from XT up until mid 1975 model XB Fords.
I have bought 5 sets of these over the years and then sold them after sometimes restoring them
The cheapest set I bought was $80 (for four) and the most expensive was around $220 (but they had the correct dates i was after...so i paid the premium)
In their curent state i would not imagine getting more than $130-$150max for them......they will require blasting and a light polish on the outer lip to get them looking period correct

All I got to say is you do amazing work. Was the best pic I could find doing a google image search. I'm guessing when properly restored these wheels are worth a fair bit more.

Thanks GCG for the additional info.
For my education, were they available either painted or unpainted finish? and if painted, what colour(s)? The ones in the photobucket link appear to be silver
For the HK T G era Holdens, many Holden dealers gave people the option of having Aunger Hustler wheels fitted, especially to Monaros. They are a similar wheel with 5 spokes (but the spokes are a bit more rounded than than these Ford ones- they don't have the defined line down the centre of each spoke) Also, rather than being 2 piece, they are all alloy and they were available with black spokes or unpainted natural finish - looked silver)

Hi Des Actually the wheels in the photobucket link are the raw cast alloy. After sandblasting they were hit with some urethane wheel paint (a clear coat to protect them and stop them getting dirty - the raw cast was prone to getting dirty) From the factory if you specced a car with the Option 52 wheels they were usually left as plain raw alloy However, most of the after market dealer fitted Option 52 wheels were a dark grey colour Please refer original advertisement from that era posted below Some more information here http://www.aus-ford-uk.co.uk/html/wheels.html
