Did all one tonners, utes and panel vans come with a bench seat stock standard. The reason I ask is that on the complicance plate on my ute says capacity 3. IF one came out with buckets woudl it say capacity 2. And if you wanted to put a bench in at a later stage would it be legal?
Thanks
Matt
Dont mess with me I have a 253.

If a Ute came out with bucket seats and said capacity 3, the 3rd pearson would be pretty uncomfortable sittin on the gearstick eh. Fact is on a 1960 ute with no seat belts, u don't need em. N if u want to put a 3rd pearson in a late model ute, u'll need |

Matt, Yep, if its got factory bucket's it'll say 2. Its legal to put buckets in if theres a bench, but to go the other way and put a bench in you'd probably have to take it over the pits to get it approved. If you have a column shift I guess it wouldnt b

HQ-WB ute, van or tonner had a floor shift with a bench seat as standard if you ordered a 4-speed. All Sandmans had buckets also. Any of these will say 'seating capacity 2' if they have buckets. I'm not sure if you could order buckets in a HK-HG commercia |

A mate of mine has a VS series II ute, only a standard, but has a 5 speed manual on the floor and can seat 3. Very uncomfortably though. The passenger seat (from what I can remember) is the same as the column auto models. Theres no centre console but just

Hi Guys.
Byron, you mentioned HK/HT/HG. Yes, you could order buckets seat, with or without a Saginaw 4-speed or a T-Bar Auto.
Compliance plates weren't fitted to cars until Jan 1970 (mid HT) so HK & 1969 HT had no mention of seating on any official |

Got that back to front. I meant I doubt you could get a bench with a floor shift. |

I have here a 6 passenger HG van as original with 173 and 3 speed. Tis a three door panel van and not an ambulance as has factory bench seats front and rear and rear tail gates. Approximate/guestimated date of manufacture 06/71.

Chris
What does the engine number start with?? A 173 was not officially available in a HG, but stranger things had happened. All HG's should have a chassis plate with the build date on it. |

Hi Guys.
Byron, there is an anomoly in late HG commercial production, where 173 & 202 engines WERE fitted.
HQ passenger car production began in 6/71 for release in 7/71, but the utes & vans weren't released until Nov 71. So all HG commercials built |

According to Ben Stewart this one (6/71) is too early to have a 173 or 202. Apparantly he has seen them plated as late as 10/71. Supposedly these vans were available in left and right door versions, with the most recent one he had spotted being a RH door |
