hey Guys, I have a 302 and I would like the name of a part that goes on top of the oil pressure sender? it is cylindrical, about 50mm in diameter and about 65mm in height, it connects to a white female wire that goes back to the oil guage, can someone explain to me the meaning of this part? and if this part is a pain to get part, can anyone let me know where could I find this part?
Cheers Phill.

Sounds like you just described an actual oil pressure sender unit for a GT/GS gauge. Does it have a plastic/rubber covering?
Is this it? http://www.rarespares.ne...Page.aspx?product=ASW104

thanks for getting back to me fellas, the Oil Pressure Sender i have bolts into the rear of the block up at the top of the motor, right behind the carbi and the motor is out of a 1975 model - GS sedan, so I would say its a Clevo?(I think, just not too sure about that Bigcav)The part I bought was from Autopro, and I had to use a 1 inch socket to nip it up, also on the top of it is a little brass shaft approx 5mm in diameter, this shaft has been machined to a little knob at the end of it so therefore somthing just clips onto it! The white wire does not fit on this shaft but it would on the part in the pic that you sent to me with all thanks to you Paul, and no it does not have a plastic/rubber covering.
I'm begining to think I have been handed a newer type of sender that may fit a XF, EL or somthing like that, I may just need to cut the wire and fit the correct clip (or end piece) to this, so would this be an option? because the one from rares is a little pricey, and now I think I may need to take an Asprin so my heart keeps pumping.lol
So should I keep the one I have and give it a go?
I appreciate the help and input you guys do on this site, keep up the good work!
regards Phill.

Assuming its the original engine it will definitely be a Cleveland

The number on the bloke can be decoded

Post up the first six digits and we can confirm its year and month of manufacture, where it was built and what type of car it was ie falcon or fairmont etc

My mid 75 Landau vin begins with JG70RL......

From memory you have an XB coupe Phill? If that's the case you're going to have to grab an oil sender unit to suit or your gauge won't read right if you've got the GS GT dash. Believe it or not the price is now cheaper for one then what they were 20 years ago. They last pretty well so it's a bit of expense you only really have to pay the once.

Thanks gcg2503 and BIGCAV for helping me out and yeh, ok , its a Clevo, but I still would like to find the original motor though unless you know who is the best to speak to! and yes your right Paul351xb I have a fully restored green and white John Goss Special, inside and out, she's on the road now and I'm up to fixing all those little teething problems, I bought the buckets that hold the rear tail lights off you a few years back, thankyou, and as you were saying they were cheaper 20 years ago, "WOW" It would of broke the bank in those days! I guess I have to bite the bullet and buy one, thanks again for steering me in the right direction fellas!
Cheers Phill.

I remember now, seems my senility is only temporary. Just needs a good jog along like a jump start and it's all good again.
For a long time nobody had those oil sender units and when I finally tracked a new one down all those years ago they were wanting about $130. That was a LOT of money then. Fortunately I got a second hand one to tie me over until I could sell off a liver and buy a new one. Still have that secondhand one on the motor and still have 100% ownership of my liver. Glad those tail light buckets did the job for you mate. :)
