i have an edelbrock performer on a 308, it has been painted and around half of it has come off, other than soda blasting whats another way to get it all off?
other forums i've looked at eagle one mag cleaner seems to be recommended, along with oven cleaner.
has anyone got a tip?

I would try paint stripper. It is similar to oven cleaner, in that it is caustic (alkaline), but stronger I believe. Mag wheel cleaner is usually an acid base which can be harder on the alloy.
I suppose you could try a small bit of each to work out which is the most effective in removing the paint without destroying the metal (& your fingers !!).

Yep stripper for mine. Wear gloves (and glasses can't hurt, as paint brushes can splash bits at you when you are applying it.) Stating the obvious I know!!!!!!!!!!!! Edited by user Friday, 11 November 2011 4:24:42 AM(UTC)

Thank goodness. I thought my humor was in vain. By the way, paint stripper always worked for me.
