Anyone here ever come across a VT 9C1 - National Police Pack, based upon an SS rather than an Executive?

A friend just bought a VT 5.0 manual with VIN starting with 6H8VTK69MWL which I think is an SS V8. Model code is 8VTK69-125. ADR plate says HOLDEN VT P/CAR.

It is codes s LB9, M34, GU4.

Has HSV style steering wheel (like VX GTS), Eurovox stereo, SS style seats, rear wing, ABS, airbags, Posi diff, 4 way electrically adjustable seats, FE2 suspension and other stuff.

I was going to reply to your email but spotted this first.

While VT was the era when they changed from supplying tarted-up Execs as cop cars, to the SS as the base vehicle (with less mods needed) the 125 on the tag indicates an Exec/V8/Manual - if it were an SS as the base, it would be an 825 code.

By VT (even by VN actually) they were stamping 9C1 (and the earlier BT1) on the tags - 9C1 succeeded in BT1 in late VS, just prior to VT.

I think this is more than likely a private buy. The steering wheel would be a later addition. All VT stereos were eurovox. SS style seats (in a VT) weren't much different to the Exec - but they did have SS embroidered on them, and had a different insert fabric (do these seats have SS on them?). Standard on all VT execs is an electric driver's seat up/down tilt function. You still have to manually move it fore/aft, and change the recline angle manually. Many parts could have been added by previous owners (like the boot spoiler).
Cheers,

Mick

We looked at buying an VT Series 1 SS manual in metallic blue, that was previously a Vic cop car, not sure what branch though. This was around 2001 didn't look at the tags just the log book for the service history. It was definitely an SS not sure if it had the cop pack gear.

Thanks Mick. I initially thought Executive but later thought it might be an SS. Everything on it appears as it was sold new bar the Simmons, exhaust and springs/shocks although i'm not sure about the rear wing, it has no HBD plate evident for it. Seats don't have SS on them but they look the same as VSIII S or SS ute fabric (later type).
