Gday all,
Just seeing if anyone on here has used or bought those pressurised tank style sandblasting units and are they good or a waste of time?

They come ina 10 and 20 gallon size, red in colour and portable.
Do they take all types of media, garnet, glass, sand etc. ( The toolshops around adelaide are useless for any info about these units)

Or is there a better alternative unit available for general use.
Cheers guys.

there good, we have 1 at work, we use it in a metal box with a glass top, it does a good job on the little stuff we blast

we use garnet sand, don't use normal sand, the dust is dangerous to breath in!!

they can be used out of the cabinet, but they will make a big mess, and for the price of the sand you'd want to be re using it a few times

I have the red cabinet sandblast unit and it is brilliant for the price. I'm looking at buying the tank unit for parts too big for the cabinet. Also as davequey said, use the garnet, as it does the job quick but does go dusty. I've used glass beads and while ok, is no where as good as garnet. Garnet gets into the rust spots.
