hi guys

what is the correct replacement coil for a stock auto 5.8? Mine gives out a very weak spark, its not the original, looks to be hand painted orange!

At a guess I'd say the same coil as any electronic ignition 6 cylinder XD series 2 or XE.

thanks Jim - I ended up getting an ACA one, and its running a treat - starting when its hot (it didn't before) and not breaking down at high revs (which it did).

Iv got an aca on one clevo and its good, run a blaster on the other which I like better but thats the point of it I spouse

Sorry Franklin I mistakenly thought from your first post that you were after originality.Hence why I suggested a 6 cylinder coil might be the one you were after.

hey Jim, no worries!

I do like my cars as close to original and stock as can be (apart from two daily drivers, I have an FC Holden, TG SL/X Gemini, Escort Sundowner 2 litre and XD 5.8 Fairmont wagon) but realise that this isn't always possible! At least the black bodied ACA coil is a tad more subtle than the (cactus) bright orange Echlin one that was on previously.

But to ensure I don't upset BigCav, I do appreciate and admire modded and custom cars ... it's not my preferred choice though!!
