My cars been pinging when i've been running mobile premium unleaded with octane boosting. My compression ratio is 10.5:1.

Does anybody know or can help on octane rating between a fuel tank of premium unleaded and a bottle of octane booster?

regular unleaded is 91 octane, lead replacement (super) is a lil higher octane, somewhere around 95 - but use that only for leaded motors. Premium unleaded has an octane rating of 96 and unlimate(BP) / vortex(Catlex) both are 98 Octane rating or RON. Lpg

Don't run premium. Run 98octane fuel.

Unleaded = 91 roughly
Premium = 95 roughly
98 octane = BP ultimate/Vortex(Caltex)/Shell optimax/Mobil synergy

10.5:1 is a decent compression ratio for a street car. It's even worse if the quench area is badly

Hi guys,

I am curious...What damage (if any), Premium 95 Octane can do to an Engine, since it is meant for Leaded cars?

I have been independently told by two people recently to run 98 octane ULP with Dexron Auto trans fluid. approx 1:1000 Dexron to ULP. 50ml to 50 litres.
I have a leaded motor and the first chap said it was no different than upper cylinder lubricant used
