Hi folks The rear brake line on my ZD Fairlane failed last night causing a dramatic reduction braking ability (I could only pull it up from just above jogging pace). I've had a look at the master cylinder and predicably the smaller chamber for the rear brakes is empty. The fluid level in the larger chamber that services the front brakes has dropped about 8mm as well. I'm going to get it checked out just to be safe but given the dual circuit design shouldn't I have had at least some brakes last night!?

In theory yes you should have some braking.
In practice when you lose pressure in one circuit your brakes will become woeful to the point of being dangerous as you have just learned.
