Hi guys, I'm super new to this forum! I'm just about to embark on the rebuild of my Monaro. I have a deadline for April next year as I'm using it as my wedding car! It's originally a base model 6 but I'll be making it a GTS mock up with a few mods. Not being a GTS i don't feel so bad not making it perfectly original. It's quite rusty and pretty shabby but thanks to eBay I have pretty much all the parts I need, just a hell of a lot of hard work to be done!

I bought the Monaro off a friend that was moving interstate for the bargain price of $100 on the condition that I also purchased his pretty shagged HG Prem for $100... DEAL DONE!

Here's a pic of my old collection, the ute was owned by my mate and the EK by my dad. Still have the white HK Kingswood and of course the Monaro!

So I haven't been able to actually work on the car so I have been playing with some of the smaller bit...

I picked up a pretty trashed HK Monaro dash in a million pieces a while back for $40 so I thought I would start restoring it..

The front glass came up a treat with a wash and some toothpaste polishing!

then I took a look at the dial faces.. they are all pretty rusty and deteriorated.

so I took the above photo and created a scale template on the computer actually had to hand draw the font because none of the windows fonts were quite right.. and came up with this:

Then I started playing with the idea of a black on white inverted dash.. The purists will be reaching for the barf bag right about now!!

Not sure yet, I will make up both black and white and see how bad/good it looks... Feedback?...GO!

Thanks: 2 times
I'd like to see the "inverted" dash cluster complete, it might not be for the purists but it's not a fatal mod. When I did mine I used the Dash Original decals and it came up a treat.

Did put a scare into the purists though when I drilled through the temp gauge face and installed the LED.
