Hi all My HZ 308 is cranking very very slowly even though my battery is full charged. I have 12 volts going to the stater.. What could cause a starter motor to crank very slowly to not at all and not start the engine even though the battery is fully charged and 12 volts is going to the starter motor?

Check the motor earth cables. These are just as critical as the supply cables.

I vote either earth cable is loose on battery terminal or the other end, or its too small. The positive cable could also be loose or too small. Also the starter motor could be worn out/brushes stuffed. Also is the battery big enough? Most likely loose cable though.

12 volts at the starter tells you not much really anyway. You will still have 12 volts at the starter with a motorbike battery hooked up. Its something causing resistance in the starting circuit.

Hi all.. Thanks for your replies.. It turned out to be a stuffed battery.. Showed 12volt fully charged until I tried to start the engine.. It then went to 6 volts.. Charged my spare battery and all is fine.
