Hi Folks This query relates to our old Mazda 626 (lets just call it a Telstar for the purpose of this forum) :). My wife drove it through a really deep puddle following some unusually heavyt rain. The water appears to have gone over the top of the bellhousing as i have removed leaves and sticks from the top of the housing. Now when I let the clutch out it doesn't engage smoothly but has a bit of a jerky feel as i let the clutch pedal out. Could the water have got in and caused the clutch plate to warp?

I would say that you are correct about water getting in but rather than warp things it's probably covered the flywheel and/or pressure plate face with dirt or rust.
Hopefully it will clear up with a little bit of time or use.
