Gday all
I am about to get my chassis blasted and am looking for peoples ideas what to paint the chassis in. I was suggested to powdercoat the chassis but i am concerned that if it ctarts chipping i an not touch it up. I have also been playing around with POR15 on some other components but i am not getting a very smooth finish, i keep getting some tiny bubbles in the paint. Does anyone have any suggestions for a paint that is durable for a chassis?

GMH black acrylic. I have used iso free 2-pack before and it comes up good too, and it is relatively cheap. |

I would use a good quality etch and primer then a 2k top coat in what ever color and sheen you wish

With POR 15 you need to follow the instructions. Tiny bubbles are caused by:
1) shaking the tin instead of just stirring the paint or
2) recoating before the first coat was touch dry will cause tiny bubbles to appear in the second coat.
I have used it for my chassis and I got terrific results. I recommend it.

KeithA when you used the POR15 did you brush it or spray it, i followed the directions pretty carefully but i am getting tiny bubbles in my first coat even after i thinned it out and painted it as thin as i could get?

Yeah stay away from powdercoat, its cheaper than paint but no where near as good. I think its pourous too so moisture eventually fuins it so I've been told.

BAD WB, I painted the POR15 on with a brush. I never thinned it or anything. I used it straight. You didn't shake the can before painting? This will cause bubbles. When I paint with it, I open the can and stir it well, transfer an amount I think I will need to a plastic throwaway tray (old chinese food tray will do), then brush it on, trying to keep the brush flows in the same direction. You need to seal the tin straight after transferring what you need out. Never put unused paint back into the tin. I can send you a couple of pictures if you want to leave an email address.
