took the holden for a drive to work yesterday got half way there before everything just stopped no lights no ignition lights nothing thinking it might be alternator grabbed a new battery after work got back to car put in battery still nothing tried using wire from starter to battery motor turned over but with no ignition lights car would not start sat back in car stumped ready to call for tilt tray truck turned key in ignition and the lights came on drove home as if nothing happened still clueless as to what caused this.

bad connection on the wire from starter to harness?

I had a HZ that used to do it with regular hilarity

Could the the plug on the firewall if still original HJ. These get corrosion on the contacts.
