A friend went to look at an LJ XU-1 for sale and while checking the numbers he noticed the TRIM on the the plate had no code after it instead said the word PRIME , anyone know what this means ?
The car also had double skin floor pans rear panhard rod setup and half rollcage , the other odd thing is that it only had one of the large comp plates and no holes as to where it would have gone. The body number is 2819673-54A chassis BLJ33526A the small vin plate was missing. The car was advertised for $24,000.
could it have an ex racer?

I've seen a HG 81837 like this. It was a factory replacement shell. PRIME means primer. Will check with the Guru for you.

Hi Guys.

Most of you are close.

This is a replacement body shell, from the spare parts dept. Not necessarily intended as a race shell, but could have been. Most replacement shells are to repair cars that have serious collision damage.

From my original investigations on the HG the body number on the LJ is actually the part number for the replacement shell, followed by the sequence number. This is the 54th one out of the Elizabeth plant (Adelaide). The interesting part is the fact that i

The answer back is that this shell was built a long time after XU-1 production ceased. This would be well into 1974 or later. It may possibly be the last LJ shell built. There were still TA's built in parallel with the LH until they were replaced by the T
