Hi there,

Just thinking about some jobs I could do over Xmas break. Anybody know how often you should change transmission fluid in a trimatic? Is it difficult job to service them? Should I attempt at home or pay mechanic?

Also, do you occasionally need to change diff oil or just keep topped up?

Regards, Phil

Not a bad idea, you could change the oil and filter yourself if you wanted to, but if you wanted to adjust the band you will need a inch pound tension wrench, different transmissions have different adjustment setting depending on the code on the side of the box, if you wanted the band adjusted your better off finding a transmission shop with the correct tools and knowledge.
if it drives o.k i guess you could drop the pan and change the oil and filter your self, again changing the diff oil every couple years not a bad idea.
