Hi guys, I have a wb panelvan handed down from the old boy, he claims it to be one of the last, if not the last wb pano ever made. it's dated oct 1984, now I found that there were caprice and stato's still sold in 85 but apparently the wb run ceased production in nov 84. Anyone out there with a wb van dated after oct 84...??? Or anyone know how I can find out????
Thanks in advance

I had a WB Kingswood ute several years ago complianced 11/84. I may have the old rego papers around somewhere with the chassis number, I guess the highest WB chassis wins, right.

Cheers fellas, btw has anyone ever seen a wb built in 85? If u look up history on the wb they apparently ran 80 - 85, however I've read that some of the production was completed in the qld production line which closed doors in dec 84, so to clear it up has anyone seen an 85 built (not 85 sold) wb?

To my knowledge the factory closed in Dec 84, prior to Christmas, but they still sold well into 1985. So 80 to 85 is still a valid timeline.

Only problem is, at least until the early 90's in NSW they only had the engine number on the rego papers :-(

That's OK, this was only about 10-12 years ago.

Later than that. I have rego papers for my LX hatchback from 11/7/1989 with only the engine number. But I have oddly enough rego papers for my FJ40 Landcruiser dated 25/8/88 with engine and chassis numbers. The other one I have with only the engine number is dated 24/6/91 for my MQ Patrol ute. It is a red transferred rego paper (form 87).

Apologies - correction and clarification to my previous post - from Jan 1989 onwards all NEW vehicles had their VINs (17 digit standard) on rego papers. In WA, there are still some pre 1989 registered vehicles getting around without the VIN/chassis number on their rego papers, but we don't have mandatory annual inspections like NSW.

So i have a wb panelvan stamped nov 84 but in the back behind the inspection panels it has written in blue crayon "no more wb thanks" on one side and on the other " the last wb" with a signature and date 13/11/1984. From the vin i know it was built in south australia. Any ideas how to find out more?

I have an EWB59840A recorded, but it too is only an 11/84. I've recorded a WB Statesman as late as 2/85 but not sure from where (maybe Mr Jones?) and owned a 12/84 1-tonner but the only rego papers I have from it are a transfer set and it doesn't have any numbers on it.
