HiAll, I am about to fit a yellow needle GTS dash to an 82 WB with a 202 blue motor. I rang an instruments place asking what sender do I need to operate the oil gauge and if they sold them. He said for a 202 he had two types of different ohms range and wanted to know what oil pressure a 202 would run cold and hot at idle, and I also assume high idle. I know the oil pressure would possibly be down a bit with the amount of k's on the engine in my car, so I don't think it is a question of having a sender to suit my engine condition, otherwise it may be reading good when it is possibly bad. I think the question is in the broad sense. So does anybody know what the oil pressures are? Or does somebody know what size sender (ohms, etc) I am suppose to have to operate the gauge correctly or should I just give them the gauge and let them work it out as I will be doing that with the fuel tank sender. It will be fitted to a Van so I will get them to calibrate the van sender to suit the dash gauge. I know Big question hopefully an easy answer. Cheers MS

I'm pretty sure all you have to do is buy one of each of these: http://www.rarespares.ne...age.aspx?product=SU1018Nhttp://www.rarespares.ne...age.aspx?product=9932442Just chec with Rares that the thermal sender is correct for a HZ-WB fuel guage. |

MS, I would just get one of these, you can't really go wrong: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Hold...-LH-LX-GTS-/251167648352If you want to use the instrument guy just tell him that you want a sender for a HJ, HX or HZ as there was only one sender used for these models regardless of dash or engine (and it will definitely work with your configuration), whereas WB had two types. The one in the ebay link above is a reproduction but looks like the real thing. Some other aftermarket ones will work but may need extra adapters with different threads to mate them up to your oil pump. This setup may look a bit untidy/out of place in your engine bay though. The other guys on here may be able to tell you whether or not it is worthwhile calibrating the oil gauge but I wouldn't think it is worth it, unless you think the readings are inaccurate to what you're use to. If you fit the dash before you fit the oil pressure sender unit and have to start the car, disconnect the blue wire going to the oil pressure switch, otherwise the oil gauge will go off the richter and possibly cause it damage. Also why not fit the dash and see how the fuel gauge behaves before spending the money getting it calibrated. You may find it is spot on and not need to be done.

The sender you need is VDO part no. 360.003. It matches any Holden oil gauge from HJ to WB (except WB Statesman). Unless your gauge is faulty there should be no need to 're-calibrate' it.

If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0 |

Thank you very much gentlemen for the reply so the two types that he is talking about for the WB would be one for the 6 and 8 with GTS style gauge and the other for the Statesman style gauge and if I just stick with the links to the senders above and Dr Terry's P/N all should be Ok? He had me a bit confused when he started talking about different oil pressures for sixes and eights??

That is right.
Holden used two senders for oil pressure.
one covered HD, HR, HK, HT, HQ, HB, LC, LJ, VB, VC, VH, VK
the other LH, LX, UC, HJ, HX, HZ
Both were fitted to WB, Sports instruments (GTS dash) got second one Statesman first one.
These two units went in 4, 6 and V8. Chevrolet engines required an adaptor.
