hi guys,I am looking at upgrading the M21 gearbox due to increasing the engine HP to around 400hp.

I am looking at fitting a richmond T10 gearbox and possibly upgrading the diff, currently running salisbury 3.08.

I would like to know if anyone has fitted a Richmond T10 in a HQ - HZ and what modifications were required to fit the gearbox in the car. I have read that when fitting to a Torans the Tunnel requires some modification near the shifter. I am not keen in cutting the tunnel to fit the box

Thanks for any info.

The cutting is for a hump to clear the shifter. Same with a HQ 350 with a Muncie. I'd be buying a Muncie before a T10 though.

Thanks for the info, would anyone have any pictures or a link to show the modification to the hump?

The reason for going with the T10 as I've heard its should be handle around 400hp and its around $1700 new out of the states.

Muncie is good for a lot more as it is a big block box and about the same price. Either will be fine though. What you need is someone with a HQ GTS350 that has a photo of the hump as the shifter should be basically identical between the two boxes.

The best way to make it work for either box will be to find a late HZ or WB V8 clutch pedal, cable and the bracket that goes around the pedal and use a pull fork bellhousing. But the cheaper way out will be to find a HT-HG 253/308 4spd bellhousing and it should fit up using the HJ clutch linkage setup. Muncie will just use a standard HQ 350 manual speedo cable, not sure about the T10.

There are a fair few others too. Greg Thackray sells a lot of repro and NOS stuff for HQ Muncie, like shifter, reverse switch etc. He may know where to get a hump for one. [email protected].

The HQ Muncie is the 26 spline input and 32 spline output M20 sourced from the Pontiac side of GM. These are pretty close to an Aussie 4spd M21 in ratios (same 2.52:1 1st gear).

Thanks HK1837 for the info, I spoke to both of the contacts that you suggested and they both have offered great assistance.
