You are not too far off with the lower of the range. I'd need to see the chassis number and VIN, body number doesn't mean as much. I wouldn't be too concerned as any Pagewood HK engine will do if you don't have the original. |

Thankyou for replying as Greatly Appreciated. The Body number on the firewall stamped is approximately 31500 S S to 31550 S S, just giving approximates for security reasons, sorry. Trying to get as close as possible, do you think 30713500 K.... or lower or higher

It'll be pretty close to 13500-14000. HK24000SS have 307/327 numbers around 12500-12600, and HK34000 are around 14300. It isn't an exact science though. Numbers creep up pretty much linearly because they are stamped at the assembly plants, unlike Holden engines which were all stamped at the engine plant in Victoria. They can vary a bit though. But again, don't get too carried away with looking for one too close, it isn't worth it. Just get a Pagewood HK 307, from 30710000 - 30717900 or thereabouts. |

Do not understand all the stuff about security. Your rego label is going to have that number on it for all the world to see when you rego it. So if someone knowing it was a security problem then they would not have it on your sticker.
Later models have it in the windscreen hole.
But top get you closer 30909SS has 30714004

Hi Steve. Position respected. However I am with Warren on the numbers. Relax. What are "they" going to do apart from write them down. You're the only one who can do anything with that identity. If your car is registered, nobody would be stupid enough to turn up with a different car with your car's I.D. The only value in a car's Identity is if it is legitimate. That means if someone uses it then they have to prove they own it too. If they can't then they will likely get a visit from the Boys in Blue. Cheers Nick. |

Warren, Those production line buddies how close do you think the other vehicles numbers are likely to be ? i.e the body number, body assembly number, gear box assembly number, heater box number, heater core number etc I'll have them here some where. i.e this one has 20 H 8 on the steering column and key number 8238..... On a Pagewood HK the PSN should be a reasonable indicator too. V8 engine numbers as well like those above. Steering box maybe not so, depends upon the ratio of each. |

What about the American part of the engine number on those Chevs i.e TO4O4H5 the 5 on the end of that number indicates 1965 doesn't it, if so where was that engine for those 3 years till it was fitted to a a monaro in sydney in 1968 ? Jack

H5 and later H is the application, in this case for GMH for the 1837 cars. The similar engine in the Pontiacs and Chevs GMH assembled had 3Q. The 0404 is 4/4/68. |

More engine number help required. My engine number is 30744438 (from memory someone here advised is was from Dandenong plant). I think the cast date on the side of the block is 7K26 (very hard to read) and on the back of the block is GM 3914636? What do these numbers mean? Also the heads have Canada GM 10 and GM 12 stamped on them with cast numbers K6_7 and K027 respectively, and also 8911032 cast on them. Could someone please help with what all these numbers mean? Thanks. |

It all sounds OK. It is a Dandenong engine, from I think low enough to be HK (the numbers started at 30740000). 26K7 is about right 26/10/67. Casting number is right too for a GMH 307, as are heads. |

Thanks heaps. What would be the date of manufacture for the heads? Also are 3914636 and 8911032 part numbers? |

I think K027 is 2/10/67 and K67 is 6/10/67, I can't remember the exact forms of these but I don't remember seeing a leading 0 before. 3914636 is the casting number of the block, 3911032 is the 307 heads casting number. |

Would love to help Jack but I sold that car in 1987. I always remembered the chassis number because I also owned HK50909SS. That car was a 6 cylinder.
