Hey all i have just bought a WB ute with a 253 in it and was wondering exactly what pollution control stuff i have to take off for better performance? Also at what revs should it be maxing out at with no load? It only has manifolds at the moment but getting extractors shortly, it currently maxes out around 5000 rpm. The extractors will add about another 1000 rpm or so wont they? Not that i need it to rev that high but 5000 seems way too low???
Cheers, Lachie

Two things Lachie...
It is illegal to remove the pollution gear on your car. It will then, effectively, be unregistered and un-insured.
Never rev a motor (especially an old motor) to anywhere near 5 grand under no load. A quick blip on the throttle

Why do you want to max rev it with no load ? And I have never heard of getting 1000rpm for free with a set of extractors . Sure , my old Torrie used to rev to 7500 but power under load was only good to 4500 and that I was happy with . Cheers |

Qute's right, If your pollution gear is operating correctly and u want more revs, you don't need to REMOVE stuff, you need to start ADDING - Cam, VSprings, Carby etc... Confusion emerges from people hearing about, but not understanding about pollution ge Edited by user Friday, 6 May 2005 8:36:54 AM(UTC)
