Thats a bodgey chrome job iitsmint. Its not the chrome itself but the preparation and cleaning before chroming thats been underdone there.

Yep, I agree. But, you've also got to be prepared to pay for the time associated with the preparation required for a real good job. That finish might be as good as they can achieve, so for them, it is 'show' quality. Getting the level of quality you're after to many chrome platers can be a challenge. I've noticed a number of eBay sellers recently flogging off 'show' quality chromed components, but even the images they provide in the advert look pretty ordinary.
It's one of those things you need to find a good provider & stick with 'em.

Thanks guys, these are from ebay a guy flogging them seems to have lots of sets, i paid $600 for theseans not real happy, if they were advertised as not show quality and had close up pictures then i dont think i would have been happy to pay $600, i am placing a dispute, i am happy to let you know whether the seller. Will do the righty and rectify the problem. Simularily i will also let everyone know who the seller is so that they dont get caught out.

Some positive news the seller has offered an exchange, so I will keep you all posted on how this transpires!

Idon't get the last comment what is show chrome I thought it would be of a standard to be fitted to a concourse car I have had and paid for show quality exchange bumpers that still had dents in them and imperfections (discolouration in the chrome).

I'm with Mr Slr, what is 'show chrome' ? I would have thought that a best possible chrome plating finish would be trying to emulate how a new car left the factory. Concours restoration is exactly that. Isn't 'concours' a show anyway ?

I know that some 2-Pak paint finishes are 'too shiny' for concours, because it doesn't represent a factory finish, but I've never heard that comment in relation to chrome plating.

Stainless mouldings can be an issue also, most left the factory with a natural finish, so if these were excessively polished then they would not be considered 'concours correct' either.

Dr Terry.

BTW it's concours, not concourse.
If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0
