Hi guys, Im looking at buying an EK sedan thats got an HR front end with VK steerng. Ive never heard of anyone using the VK rack and pinnion before. Does anyone know if this combo works OK, and if so can i convert to power steer? Ive alway been lead to believe that there was no easy power steer conversion for the HR front end in an EK. thanks for your comments.

The rack is shortened and modified to fit the front end. I have the same setup in my EH. The steering is very light, as you have to do more turns of the steering wheel to go lock to lock. You cannot shorten a power rack, so no you cannot convert to power steer.

You need an engineers report for the work done legally.

To prove how light the manual rack is in an old Holden, I did my burnout comp entry at a national event totally one handed, moving the steering with one hand only. I will admit when both back wheels are doing a burnout, the steering gets even lighter, as you do some of your steering with the right foot.

So yes the combo works ok, but you need the engineers report.
