well got my vk commy wagon
6 cyl auto power steering air con
just about everything i wanted.
about 217thou, really nice original interior and body/paint, pretty straight and drives well. you could just about eat your dinner out of the ashtray its never been used.
about all i want to do ....
would think of 350 holley, xu1 cam, extractors, electric mirrors, towbar, and already have a large fuel tank out of a vr, should go in reasonably well, get air con fixed, maybe get cruise control did these have cruise control ? also fit footrest for left foot.
would have preferred fc or eh wagon but too expensive in reasonable on road condition and don't have time for another project.
so in the market for good holley carb and adaptor or manifold, extractors, and the other bits.
got an electronic dissy and coil to replace the iffy est one, and the seller fitted a brand new alloy timing gear a couple of days ago as the old fibre one let go last week.
the radio is a bit funny, if i press the cigarette lighter in the radio has good volume but when it pops it loses power. maybe earth?
where are the speakers the sound appears to come from the rear of the car.
how do you remove the radio?

other suggestions?any

Calais for 'cruise control. Grab a VK parts catalogue and you'll see it all.

I'd do a VN-VSIII V8 conversion on it, cruise is easy on that!

Cruise was optional on the berlina when fitted with the power pack, but not available on SL or Exec.
I wouldn't pursue the VK system anyway - it's the old vacuum operated unit which is difficult to hook up, has limited control from the single button, and the myriad of vacuum lines make fault finding a real pain. Save your time & money & buy an aftermarket solenoid-driven cruise control unit, with a universal stalk control.

HEI dizzy goes straight in. Take the EST bulb out of the dash so it doesn't annoy you.

Radio sounds like an earth or supply issue, or possibly even a partially fried loom.

Removing the radio for the first time is nearly a dash-out proposition, as they have a security bracket fitted to the back of the radio (stud mounted on the radio, you need to undo the nut holding it to the bracket). The bracket is bolted to the dash brace with 2 phillips head screws located under the ducting to the centre vents - but you don't need to undo these if you get the nut undone. Once you have the nut undone, you need the Eurovox tools to pop the radio out of the dash opening. They are little forks that go in the slots on each side.

Speakers in a VK are one in the dash, and one in the LH rear 1/4 panel behind the slots in the trim panel. A lot of people add a RH one later.
Cheers,

Mick
