Noticed this for sale on facebook. Not mine and I'm not interested in buying it but was just curious about the no. The X at the start isn't aligned with the rest of the nos so perhaps added later?

Not listed in Warren's Black Book and Monaroparts website appears down.

Any views?

It's in my book & I'm sure it's in Warren's Black Book (check in LX & UC Torana in my book & around page number 380 in Warren's book).

XQL is prefix for a high compression 202/3.3 (auto trans) with ADR27A.

That is a UC number. The X was added at the assembly plant like the Statesman 11 or 12 as the engine is going into a non-Holden car line, the rest of the number is stamped beforehand at the engine plant in Victoria.

Agreed, 99xxxx will be towards the end of Q prefix numbering, placing it mid-1978.
