I saw a 186s Kingswood today - manual pedal box, but blank column as though floor shift and with bench seat. The only thing is the gearbox is missing and the floor shift hole is not where theft normality are - it is a bit forward (and no "hump" like other floor shift cars) and looks neatly done. Any ideas would it have been a four speed car with bench seat? Thanks for your help

What era HK is it? From memory there is 3 x different M20 floor shift style shifters used in HK. There is an early style that has a little box style surround like a B&M T-bar (look at early HK brochures), then a HR style shifter and lastly the final type used when Monaro and Brougham were released that I believe only came with console shift.
I can't remember for sure (Dr Terry or Warren might) if the early style or the HR style use the same floor entry or not.
Can you get photos? And photos of ID plates?

Thanks mate. I have purchased the car (who knows why as I don't need any more work) but won't go and get it for a few weeks. Can get photos then but I haven't had any luck posting photos before. If has a greay heater box - did the later model HK's have black heater boxes?
