Hi all, sorry but I am doing some things to my car and I am just a chick who can't afford a mechanic so I do most of the work on my cars myself. I want to flush the engine coolant out of the engine but I have been advised not to use the engine coolant drain plug as it has never been used and a 10mm socket just rounds it off and a 9mm is to small. What I would like to know is which radiator hose should I put the hose in to flush the engine out as I don't want to do any damage to it. I have tried the top hose but the engine gets a bit to warm and barely a trickle comes out of the bottom hose. Should I put the garden hose in the bottom radiator hose or tsy another way. Thanks all

trying to flush the block out by taking the top hose off and using a hose wont do much as the thermostat wont open enuf to allow any water thru.....
Does the motor have any coolant in it while you are doing this?

You dont need to have the car running to do this, but if you are going to flush the block then I suggest you replace the thermostat as well. The easy way to flush the block is to drop both top and bottom radiator hoses off and undo the thermostat housing

Another thing to remember when flushing the coolant in your car is to turn your heater to hot and run the fan on full with the key turned to accesories. This will get the old coolant out of the heater system. Grab a new thermostat and some gasket goo.

Thank you every one. I ended up taking the termostat out and I remembered to have the heater on full and when I refilled the radiator I also undid the bleeder on the thermostat housing to help let the air out of the system. I couldn't get over the amount
