We can only guess, but I reckon you are looking over $20k. Just not sure how much over, might be over $30k! Just hard to tell today, market is soft for sellers but proper Survivor cars pull good money, just have to market it correctly. I'd put some photos together, make yourself up a web page with lots of pictures and text, and put links on some forums like this one, gmh-torana, mysandman, aussiev8 etc etc. If you can't develop a website, just do all the text in Word and get someone to save it as a HTML page and stick the photos in. All you need is a page in a domain somewhere. If mine was working right now i'd give you one to use. |

Byron, thanks for replying to my request. Its comforting to know that cars like this are worth good dollars, guess I just need to find a buyer that appreciates genuine original cars in this condition.
Thanks again

G'day Oldolden, I have been keeping keen interest in a similar HK Kingswood 186, Pyrmont Green 48,500 original and sounds every bit as good as yours. It too has not been registered for over 15yrs and is a very original example. The price started at $30k and is now down to $22K. The car has had interest mainly from older blokes and young fella's who want to bang a V8 in it, then they see the car and say that they wouldn't cut up such a car. I think that it is just too much coin in this current market for people, I would pay the $22k for this car but that would be my absolute top price. Hope that this helps you mate. Cheers Al

Goodaye Al,
I saw the green/white hk advertised recently looks good and sounds very similar to mine. I recently put mine on eBay and bidding only reached $12500. Not enough dollars for me, but I guess it's the market. Just shows there is plenty of interest in low mileage original cars as the phone rang hot pretty much as soon as the add was placed on eBay.
Cheers, Rob

Hey Oldolden If it is as good as the Green HK then I don't think that is enough either. I spent an hour going over that car and was very impressed by its originality and condition, so if yours is similar then hang onto it. Maybe try a Shannon's auction as original examples seem to sell well with them. Cheers and good luck Al

Al's suggestion to check out shannons seems to be good advice. A few years ago, a white HK kingswood, original condition went for 17K (I think) which blew the minds of those present. Shouldnt be too hard to do a search to find the details. I know there was a bit of a write up on that sale at the time.
BUT, and its a big but, - What sort of money does it cost the seller to sell through Shannons??

Yes that one sold at Shannon's in 2010. It was a Kingswood with 307 power glide combo, bucket seats, console, GTS steering wheel and full guage iinstrument cluster. Not sure whether it came of the assembly line with the options or was added later, bloody good price for 2010 at $17k. But a rare combination, don't know whether Holden offered those options on Kingswood or not.
Thanks for your interest, Rob

I believe they did make 307 kingswoods from factory which probably the reason why the Shannons one achieved the price it did.
I'm not sure how rare factory kingswood 307's are? I don't think they were all that uncommon though.(happy for someone to prove me wrong here) Obviously the 6's were by far the most popular option though.

Yes there were 5litre HK Kingswoods, and Belmonts and Premiers and Monaros. Whilst most common in GTS and Brougham, plenty were made. It was the standard V8 in HK outside of GTS327. |
