Hi Everyone. I would like to know whilst travelling on an open road and travelling uphill, Temperature creeps up slowly and when going downhill it slowly goes down. Is this Normal for a 302 Windsor. With the two Thermo Fans in front of the AC Condensor it helps. Should I get stronger Thermo Fans and replace them ? I have been told of Engine Clutch Fan (Viscous) as Oposed to the Engine Fan on the Car. I was to add a Viscous Clutch Fan, would it help the cooling of the Motor.
Regards

No I would say that the radiator is RS. You don't need a fan on the highway at all.

I agree with Castellan that your radiator is bad or partially blocked which equals bad too.
I had an EB that did that and the viscous fan was not cutting in because the radiator had a lot of blocked cores so no heat was coming through it to lock the fan clutch up.
Problem is that the rising temp issue happened suddenly after I replaced a leaking water pump so it bamboozled me a bit.
I suspect either the new pump was way more powerful and filled the radiator full of gunk/casting sand from the engine or less powerful so it could not squeeze coolant through partially blocked cores. |

Agree, pull the radiator and if the fins are all OK it'll cost about $120 or so to get the top tank pulled and the cores cleaned and put back together. Put back together after flushing the block well using anti-corrosion additive, unless you live where it gets below zero you don't really need anti-freeze. |
