Hey people, I've got a question that might be difficult to answer.

I have recently purchased a NOS VK EFI manifold and throttle body, it has a threaded boss in the casting inbetween injectors 5 and 6. I've never seen a manifold with this before. a pic of it is here. Any ideas what it is for? I'm thinking of drilling it out and using it for the MAT sensor (currently sorting out fitting a VN Delco ECU).

It has these dates engraved onto the manifold

Those engraved dates well & truly precede VK manufacture - GMH were still assembling VHs in Jan '84.

I don't know what that boss was used for, as I have never seen it on any VK EFI manifold I've come across. NSW had different emmissions specs & had a

Hey Mark
Nice to see you have finally got it up and running!
I think you must hold the world record for cramming the most amount of wires into an engine bay that actually join up to something :-)

Mick, Yeah, I thought those dates were pretty early....but never took a real lot of notice.....as you can see from the rest of the pics in that gallery, the manifold and throttle body are NOS. I was going to grid this manifold up to get rid of the EGR (li

The VK injection manifold we put in the EH Limo has the threaded boss between 5 & 6. It doesn't go through, just like the one in your pics. It had a rubber grommet sitting in it. The manifolds do look so much neater without the EGR

If it's only a blind hole (so you don't have to plug it) then grind away!
Like Sammy said, doesn't matter what manifold you chop up.
There's a relatively good supply of them up here on the mainland if you evrer need more (I can get my hands on 3 of them
