My list says that it's a 1-3/32" carby off 149 & 161 from Nov 65 (HD) to HG & 2250/2600 LC - manual trans only.

I suppose that I should 'fess-up'. It's not 'my' info, I've compiled it from several original Bendix Stromberg parts manuals that I've collected over the years.

It'd still be heaps more accurate than a 'web list. At least the 'web page is in the ballpark!

23-3020 is a HR-G 186 manual.
23-3014 is a HD-G 186 auto.

David, when you say that you purchased a pair of these, did you mean two 23-3020 or 23-3019 ? Are you intending to run the two on one car, using an X2 manifold or similar ?

If you are, the 23-3020 carbies are too large, X2s used two 1-3/32" carbies, not two 1-5/32".

The 23-3014 & 23-3020 both ran from mid-HD (Nov 65) to the end of HG on 186 engines.

The 2 1-5/32 Strombergs will be with a 227@050 XU1 Street Grind cam a 262HP Flow tested Head

Why ?
What intake you running ?
I seen my mates worked LH 202 with twin small 1-3.32 strombergs hose of every a triple SU that was the fastest in their towns, the dudes could not believe it when they seen twin strombergs they started looking for nitrous.
He put the bigger 1-5/32 on and lost power. he had a 30/70 HYD cam that went just as well the 35/75 solid cam.
He had triple SU but said it only was right at top end that they gave more power and that was not as good in drag racing or for the road.
He has built up 3 308 V8's and says non of them are anything near the performance that old 202 he had.
He just had a hard time keeping the 202 blocks together as they would split the blocks on the passenger side all the way.

Do you mean that the 1 5/32 will send too much or not enough fuel in DR Terry or are they physically too big to fit the manifold? Please explain as I value your input

The carbies will fit, but the hole is smaller in the manifold than in the carby base. This will then put a 'step' where the airflow is most important.

Also a bigger carby doesn't deliver more fuel, it delivers more air. This is why the venturi size is critical. Too big a venturi leads to flat spots etc.

I understand now, thanks Dr Terry. So with a 262HP Head and a 227@050 XU1 Street Grind cam would Twin 1 3/32 Strombergs be suitable
