                I would have thought it'd go better with a 186S manifold and carb, but I have zero experience with the X2 setup. All I know is the HR 186S 4spd was the quickest 6cyl Holden ever built until the XU1's. Dave Bennett's HR 186S 4spd with his Yella Terra head was significantly faster in all areas involving engine power than the performance benchmark of the day (the XR GT). So skip forward to today, with improved headwork, probably better cam grind technology, better ignition etc and a stronger gearbox that you'd easily improve on Dave's efforts. Not saying the X2 setup won't be even better, just that the 186S setup is probably easier to setup and tune and obviously is capable of decent power. |

 I seen my mates worked LH 202 with twin small 1-3.32 strombergs hose of every a triple SU that was the fastest in their towns, the dudes could not believe it when they seen twin strombergs they started looking for nitrous.
 He put the bigger 1-5/32 on and lost power. he had a 30/70 HYD cam that went just as well the 35/75 solid cam.
 He had triple SU but said it only was right at top end that they gave more power and that was not as good in drag racing or for the road.
 He has built up 3 308 V8's and says non of them are anything near the performance that old 202 he had.
 He just had a hard time keeping the 202 blocks together as they would split the blocks on the passenger side all the way.
 
 I bet he had a sneaky 161/173 head on it too! I remember whacking one of these and a 30/70 hydraulic cam onto the stock 202 in my first car (HQ van) and the thing went like a rocket compared to the original open chamber head and stock cam. Thing used to scream its head off, until I revved it too hard one day and dropped a valve. |

                Yes but hard to find the 186S Carby, I ran an LH V8 carby with a 223@050 Cam and stage 3 Head but used too much fuel |

                Ok, I thought they'd be easy to find! Manifolds are everywhere - I regularly see them at swap meets - I used to buy them all the time for $5-$15 each but got too many. |

                Head is from HSD, Hi Compression 161, Ported, bigger valves YT Roller Rockers and double springs. Cam is 223@050 from Clive's Cams. Pacemakers and 2 1/4 exhaust. Electronic Ignition. Had a V8 Dual throat carby on it and went good but use too much fuel 16mpg.
 First car I has was an Original X2 which previous owner put a Yell Terra head on and boy did I fly.
 
 I have returned the 1 5/32 23=3020 pair in exchange for a matched pair of 23-3019's, thanks DR Terry for you input, always highly valued

 No it had the open chamber head it was a YT 6000 then he got more porting work on it. It had been shaved to the max so the compression was not to low. When you go to a bigger cam like 30/70 you need more compression to make it all work but not to much or then you loose power due to the fuel we ran back in the 80's you were governed by that. |

 a 2 barrel Stromberg will not use more fuel if jetted correctly. and nor will 2 x Stromberg's. My mates worked 202 LH G pack got bloody good fuel econ. The main thing then for fuel econ is to have a vacuum advance connected up. My stock 308 would get 22 MPG and with out the vacuum advance working it went down to 16 to 16.5 MPG on the highway. |

                Got the Twins on it but still looking for Air Cleaners and linkages, think I will have to go to Cable linkage |
