Can anyone give me a run down on Club Rego in Qld? How does it work? What are the rules and regulations? What are the restrictions on the use of your car? Cost? I am not a member of any club in Qld as yet. $890 for my ute rego is getting a bit rich for a car that isn't used every day!

In Queensland ALL 30 year + vehicles are eligible, stock, modified etc, plus hot rods.
Restrictions are:
Club use only, must be a club event or club sanctioned event. The clubs put a list of events that are sanctioned in their newsletter and you just need to produce this if pulled over. (most clubs list all car shows, swap meets, ASMF events Nationals, plus their meetings and club run, some also list other club runs)
You can also test drive the car to a 15km radius from the place the car is stored/registered
You can drive it to any specialist repairer

I've heard the new NSW rules are great.
I lived in NZ for several years and if your car is more than 40 years old you get a huge reduction in rego cost and there is no CTP as it is built into the rego fee through the Accident Compensation Commission. And you can use it as often as you like!!!!

In SA the rego on my HQ is about $125/year I think, its so cheap I register it for three years at a time.
That gives me 90-days/year to drive it any time I want and wherever I want.
Actually I have two HQ's and I drive them both as daily drivers, always registered and with cheaper insurance too.
I have three cars and one vintage motorcycle registered at all times, just for myself.
In a couple of years I'll add a HK to that list.
Without the SA conditional registration scheme I probably wouldnt even use these cars so I'm a big fan of the SA scheme.

That's the system we should have here. Why it needs to be tied to a club and restricted in where you can drive is beyond me.
