Hello all.
Growing up as a kid, my uncle had i think a HQ two tonner ute. Also at the time it was the only one I've ever seen a long the coast of Tasmania. But, who actually made them? I know it is an extension of the one tonner, well looks to be like that. Were these done a dealer level or specialised engineering place? My uncle still has the two tonner, been basterised with tipping tray etc and I'm not sure where the ID plates are for it.
Also, was there many made? |

I've never seen anything within GMH literature indication they made them. I have a feeling they are just an aftermarket chassis extension with lazy axle. I don't think they were ever rated any more than 1 tonne either, as I've never seen any additional compliance plate with a GVW higher than the original GMH compliance plate showing 2600kg (5700lb HQ) 6cyl or 2660kg (5850lb HQ) V8. The only cab-chassis I've ever seen with an additional compliance plate was a HZ Overlander with 2800kg GVW. That doesn't mean there isn't some though, I've just never seen one with an increased GVW. AFAIK they were made by Biggs Engeering can.t think off his first name ( have meet him ) from Dalby Qld same co. that made the Dingo mini loaders with all the extra . The business then got split and then did the 6 wheel other vehicles ie au tonners ,land crusers ect i think all with ADR approval |
The difference between good and great is the extra effort |
