350 auto. 0429 is the Julian date code. ZD is the broadcast sheet code. |

My 6/71 hq 350 auto has the same numbered 7029284 carby but my statesman 10/71 is 7041284.So early HQ 350's had left over HT-G auto carbies then the later ones were used. Edited by user Sunday, 30 July 2017 3:51:47 PM(UTC)

The first few HT GTS350 had HK carbs too. The first few HQ 350's at one assembly plant got HG engine numbers as well. It was all about not wasting wherever possible. As parts from North America had to be ordered way in advance they would always have a shortage or a surplus if demand didn't match predicted demand, hence the use of the last of the parts from the prior series if possible if there was a surplus. This is the reason why there was a heap of GTS350 sedans built right at the end of HQ (surplus 350, auto combos that had to be used as no 350 in HJ). Also partly the reason why HQ 350 manual ended so early, and why any M21 4spd HG becomes really rare towards the end. |
