Hi,
Does anyone know if it is at all possible that a 308 HG GTS Monaro could have been made without the hump in the boot and tank?

Also is it possible that an engine block date could be the same month as the vehicle build date or would it have to be at least a month before?

New to the site, thanks in advance.

Is the car an auto, or a manual?
I've yet to see a 308 HG GTS, auto or manual, with anything other than a 10 bolt Salisbury in it, which means it would have the hump in the rear floor pan pressing, and in the tank.
Nothing is impossible, but it seems unlikely.

As for the engine casting date, it's possible, but the engine number and firewall number will provide a better indication as to whether the two left the factory together.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.

Its a manual, has a Muncie 4 speed, 9" and 350 chev (which is stuffed) in it when I bought it.

However I can purchase what I'm told is the original 308.

So am thinking if I have to rebuild an engine I might as well rebuild the original?

If it infact it wasn't a 308 would I be better finding a 253 dated correctly and it becomes a matching car or will the engine number compared to firewall number forever show its not 100% matching and just Dated the same?

In that case I might as well go for the 308 and have the extra power?

The only 'matching numbers' engine is the original. It will be a 253 originally if it is an 0837 with no Salisbury hump.
