I had a problem with my HK wagon last week. On the way home from picking up car parts with the tandem on the back I found myself struggling to get up to 80kms. the old girl seemed to deteriorate as I went until it gave up the ghost up a hill. As she died she backfired and spluttered a bit until the end. After getting help from a couple of young blokes who stopped to help we worked out the fuel pump was gone. Next morning I replaced the fuel pump and got her home, but she wasn't running well so today I had a look and after removing the aircleaner I found something stuck down the throat of the carby. it appears that during the "death throws" of the fuel pump the back firing has blown out one of the main venturi tubes and lodged it in the next throat. Anyone ever herd of that happening? thankfully there doesn't appear to be any damage due to debris into the motor. Still don't seem to be able get photos up.
