Anyone out there used these fuel tank drop ins? There are seven five cent sized metal pieces in a plastic mesh.There are different sets for different sized tanks and cc's of motor. Here are some pics of the flyer and 2 sets for over 4000cc's  ]    Apparently the Poms used these during the Second World War as their fuel was of poor quality and these improved it....Or so the story goes. Its a amalgam of tin/lead thats as much as I can find out. There is little on the net that says one or the other as in proven facts...A lot of guessers stating its snake oil.
I picked them up at a garage sale for a few bucks so no great loss.
Does anybody know how much lead per litre they used to put in petrol before unleaded came along?
Unleaded as we know does burn hotter than leaded petrol does,so putting the lead back in make it cooler?
Does lead actually increase the octane rating?
