i'm not in the market but these keep coming up on ebay, does anyone know the legalities of selling ID plates? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/w...612&item=4551883680&rd=1

Rumour has it that laws are about to be passed in NSW (at least) for the possession of "ID plates" without the car. Since NSWPOL monitor ebay I wouldnt want to be THAT guy with those plates when the laws come in. I think its 10yrs max. FWIW - John

Geez, that's a worry for those of us who don't plan illegitimate activities with the plates.
I have over 50 (20 odd complete sets of all 3 tags) commodore build plates from cars that either myself or mates have wrecked out. I have another 100+ build |

I agree with commodernut , I kept all 3 plates from my HZ sandman ute that was written off , these are in a cabinet with my scale model cars as a talking point with other holden bits. I wouldn`t buy anyone elses plates !

Agree with u mate. There are people called collectors. Big Brother doesnt really give a rats these days. Things that were once legal pastimes, now need sanction by Mssrs Carr and Howard.

The body identification plate and VIN plate are GMH plates and therefore it is not ilegal to have them.
The compliance plate is a different matter. It is illegal to remove this from a vehicle. The reason for this is this is what gives a vehicle its id

The police will say whatever gives them the most advantage on the day. Most laws are written in such a way that the police (or lawyers) can interpret them as they will to cover a situation they don't like.

A while ago we sold a firewall from a Skyline wreck that we bought through Pickles auctions in Melb. The car was classified as repairable write off. Vehicle had all Id tags, VIN nos etc. The chap who bought the firwall section from us, used it to repair |
