For my project needed a Holden oil pan. It seems to have two dipstick holes. One has a rubber plug in it which looks temporary. Are these in fact just alternate locations for the dipstick or is something else supposed to go in one of them? If not is there a more permenant plug that is supposed to go in the unused one?
Thanks!

Your engine will be from a Commodore. On all other vehicles the dip stick went into the block, Commodore red, Blue and Black motors went into the sump.
If fitting to other Holden remove plug and place in dipstick.

Thanks Warren, I should have mentioned it's an LS1 motor. I needed the front sump Holden pan to clear the crossmember and put the motor down low.
I guess there is no problem with the plug blowing out on NA cars as there is a vacuum condition in the oil
