WB Statesman blue 308 Hi. My temp gauge is not working. Iv put a test light on the green wire that goes to the sender on the motor and there's no power. Checked all fuses, disconnected the quad gauge to see if there's power from the green wire in the plug to the gauge Nothing. Got me stumped Any ideas before I call a sparky Edited by user Sunday, 28 October 2018 7:37:19 PM(UTC)

Aren't the senders just a variable resistance 0V connection? Basically the -ve side of the gauge, thus I don't believe you'd get much voltage there to operate a test lamp, especially if the gauge is stuffed. |

As HK1837 has pointed out, there won't be much voltage at the sender in circuit.
The best (& easiest) method of testing a temp gauge is to remove the sender wire from the sender & connect the wire to earth via a resistor (cheap as chips a Jaycar etc.).
With ignition on & using a 75 ohm resistor (for a WB) the gauge should read around half scale. If it doesn't, your gauge is faulty. If it does read half then either your sender is faulty or the engine isn't getting up to full temperature.

If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0 |

The other thing I have witnessed that causes temperature gauges to play up is the wire beteen the battery - terminal and the body is missing. |
