G'day guys, I've bought myself a new hk dash for my panel van and when it came in the mail it's become a bit of a question. it's a green tint face with perfect colouring except for two small marks and only 4.7 miles on the clock. all 0's are the same colour. it's a flexdrive. the puzzling thing is the top which has writing "submitted to R. Martin 6-2-68" not sure on the 68 could be a 08. I'll try and get a photo up soon. any ideas as to why a dash was "submitted" to anyone? reco?.

Most likely for internal quality control testing / calibration for parts coming in from the suppliers
It then may have ended up as a spare part

Or it failed and was a reject part. GMH sold whole container loads of reject parts probably near 20 years ago and a lot of NOS sold on the then new EBay was reject parts from those containers. I bought a few bits back then, one a NOS Kingswood/Monaro tail-light bought for the lenses, the housing didn’t fit a HK body properly. But it was NOS!

I was going to mention something similar.

It could have been a warranty return. It might have had a problem which was found during the dealer delivery check (hence the miles on the odo) & a new unit was then fitted.

This one was returned to GM-H & Mr R Martin could have been the warranty clerk.

They quite often put the faulty bit back into the new box, so it looks like it was NOS.

If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0
