Hi There, I have a HK GTS with a non original engine in it and I want to replace it with a 307.
It's a Melbourne built car - HK80737-33697M
Can anyone help me with what engine serial number (range) I should be looking for to match the car?
Thanks

Any GMH 307 is OK. There is only one engine that matches the car and that is the original. Dandenong cars had engine numbers starting with 3074 but just grab any one you can find, they are always around for sale. The blocks and heads are cheap and plentiful, it is the accessories that are getting expensive. I’m doing the opposite to you, getting rid of my GTS’s 307 for a 377.

Here’s one, bit exxy though:

Thanks Mate - That's what I needed.
What do you reckon is with the tap on the water pump in that photo? Been in a ski boat maybe?

Just an aftermarket water pump.

There should be lots of Dandenong 307’s around. I’m in NSW so all of the ones I used to find were Pagewood examples and there are lots of them around, in similar numbers to Dandenong. Both plant sequences got to roughly 8000 by the time 307 finished (a small amount of the 8000 were 327 and 350). The rarest ones are Mosman Park followed by Acacia Ridge.

A domestic water tap was often used to turn the heater off during warm weather. This one is actual a neat job; most are 'cut n shut' before the heater box.

That's the wrong manifold for an Aussie release chev. Wrong oil filler tube and no provision for auto choke.

Manifolds are a dime a dozen like the heads and exhaust manifolds. The carbs and air cleaners are getting hard to find though.
