Gday.

Im in a bit of a pickle here. Im 17 right, still on my L plates. Live in NSW, bloody government has bought in that law about no v8s nada nada. You know the ****. Pisses me off cause my tunna with 253 is no where near as powerful as a bloody v6 commodore. Enough of me whinging.

Right now it has a 253, dual fuel, supra 5 spd, Powersteering, Gts Dash.

I needa get my ps by the 11th of next month to be exempt from the new laws, chances are pretty slim, ive failed twice already.

So if i dont get my ps by then Im gonna consider dropping in a 202. So heres where I start. Should i take out the 253 and sell it, and put in the supra box on the 202, wait till i get off my ps and drop in the 308 with turbo 350 (needs rebuild) i have in my backyard. OR sell the 308, and keep the 253 till i get off my ps and drop that back in? What would you do?

Next thing...

How hard is it to go from a 253 to a 202?

Will i need to get it engineered?

Will the supra 5 mount onto the 202?

Will I need a new Bellhousing?

Wiring? Change?

New tail shaft?

Last but not least....Do 202's with duallies sound tough? My dad reckons hes heard em and they sound real mean?

Thanks alot

Matt

Dont mess with me I have a 253.

Matt,

Where has it been posted that 17yos and 253's are a NO GO. They are only talking about it as far as I have heard.

And I agree with you a humble 253 is no where near as deadly as a VR with 5.7 under the hood !

Dont do anything just yet mate

Hi atcmatt,

Thanks for the link, and what a joke. I read in the RTA doco that you could pay $23.00 for an exemption. Pay the $23.00 and that will delay any knockbacks u get while you are going for your "P"s. Get your "P"s asap. Take some lessons. DO NO

Looking at the wording, there seems to be an out with exemptions for work vehicles, or country V8's, or if the V8 is your folks, and it is the family's only car. Might be worth trying it on with one of those options also. Because it doesn't say that if

Hey Fellas.

That is another thing to think about hey. I might see if i can get an exemption with work, when I start next year. I will be doing a carpentry trade so there is a good excuse.

Hey LUBOSS, im in Sydney (CastleHill). Thanks for the offer

you may be able to apply for an exemption if the car is registered in your name and you can't afford to replace it but it is essential for your employment
cheers

Yeah,

If it was me I'd go for the exemption loophole:

It says if u "genuinely need it for employment"

SO -

If ur gona b a Carpenter u say u need it 4 carryin Timber,
A Brickie - Sand,
An Apprentice - T carry y Heavy Toolbox,
A Dog Wash

Better Idea...change all the badging to say 202 - trimatic, then put on an air cleaner decal that says 202...and you may be on a winner !

Doing my best add some humour to this serious issue...cheers John
