Hi have access to a HT Monaro (shell only), and would like to know as much info as possible.
It has two id plates, details as follows;
Narrow plate, passenger side:
80469TH139638
Large plate, drivers side:
MODEL HT 90469M
BODY No 871578
TRIM 1192 14E
PAINT 568 11401
TOP
I can’t find any reference to 0469 ??
H1 Built in Brisbane
11401 Colour is Kashmir white
14E Trim is Medium Blue, but this is a HQ Monaro code ??
Has a black vinyl roof. Doesn’t have the flutes on the front guards.
Any assistance with identification would be appreciated.

I'm not surprised you are a little confused.
Those ID plates are from a V8 HT Kingswood, and not a HT Monaro or Monaro GTS.
There are a few odd numbers on the Body ID plate too, so it's a forgery, a factory stamping error in at least two places (unlikely), or you've read some numbers incorrectly.

Thank you gm5735 for your explanation. Further check of the plate and following your explanation the Model would be HT80469M just hard to read. Not sure why different id plates would have been put on, weird! Would have been done 30+ years ago. I suppose won’t be worth as much. I gather any Monaro is worth saving though.

Arh, thanks 8D11PCH2.
I gather if I salvage the Monaro the I’d plates would need to come off any way as they are incorrect for the car. That’s a bugger.!

If it’s cheap enough and fixable it’s worth having, but don’t spend too much on it as it’s value will always be compromised. Best sort of car to get looking good but more of a modified car than a resto. Just make sure you do a good Police check on its chassis number to make sure it’s not stolen. |

Thanks for you suggestions HK1837. Won’t cost me anything, except I’ll need to purchase a car trailer to collect it.
Do you know if the running gear, steering and suspension etc.. from a HT sedan or Ute would fit the HT Monaro?

I didn’t mean the shell cost, but any resto costs. Estimate it and multiply by 3 or 4! Just about everything from a HT sedan will fit except for doors and glass. A Monaro is basically a Kingswood coupe but it has different panels and glass plus buckets. Hopefully it has reclining buckets as a pair of these will set you back near to $3500 restored. You hopefully also get the other interior coupe specific bits with it, which aren’t cheap - rear seat and scuff plates. If it was a GTS a fair bit more differs. If you are getting it free just grab it, and assess afterwards. I’ll be able to tell you from certain photos what it was originally. Edited by user Thursday, 21 October 2021 7:51:52 AM(UTC)
