Sydney built HK on Shannons, wouldn't it have had a Sydney Engine Number.

If it had it's original engine and it was originally a V8 yes it would have. But either the engine has been changed or it wasn't originally a V8. A lot of the car isn't right at first glance, like it has a left side clutch fork and master cylinder, wrong leaf springs. dual exhaust, extra holes and brackets everywhere. Still a nice car but needs a good inspection.

Wouldn't the motor be to early for a Monaro seeing as they went into HK , Chevs & Pontiacs.
Original hump would tell if it was and original 4 speed car.
Not the original Air Cleaner either.

I didn’t take much notice of the number, but it was a GMH 307 number so can only be from a HK or a HT if it’s an original stamping.
Original hump can easily be welded in from any other HK-HG originally fitted with M21 or M22.

At first glance I’d take it on faith it was a V8 manual GTS that probably lost its engine and box over the years and someone has tried to get is closer to as original. You can see lots of war scars under it from past dual exhaust setups. It may not have been originally a V8 though, you’d have to look at the body and know the hidden secrets to look for.

I recall an opaline blue A9X like the one Shannons also have for sale when I was a little tucker. Does anyone know how many would have been that colour?

Just to elaborate, the one I remember was driven by the son of friends of my parents in the Liverpool area of Sydney. I'm vague but I'm sure it was his bosses car, but he got to drive it often enough, I saw it on at least a couple of occasions. I was young at the time (maybe 6 or 7-1978-9) but at that stage it had the same wheels as my old man's sandman and the addition of bolt on flares/spoilers to my mum's slr

I have a full production printout that lists every A9X including the trim line. Has almost all cars on it. When I get a chance I'll count the Opaline blue ones.
